Final Public Open House

The City of Abilene hosted the final Dyess AFB Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) open house on October 18, 2017 at the Abilene Convention Center located at 1100 N 6th Street in Abilene, TX 79601. This workshop was held in conjunction with the Public draft review and comment period and was conducted in an open house format.  Attendees were provided an overview of the Public Draft JLUS, including key compatibility issues, findings, and recommendations contained in the Public Draft JLUS Report.  The room was set up with four stations, each focused on a specific compatibility factor for noise, safety, vertical obstructions, and bird aircraft strike hazards.  Each station had a person there for attendees to ask questions about the specific issue and recommendations.  Some attendees submitted comments on the Public Draft through the use of comment cards, which were taken into consideration to prepare the final JLUS documents.
